SEEING & SEEN

PHOTOGRAPHY 1976 - 2019

My photographic project has involved seeking out locations and perceptual fields in which I engage with what can be seen and intuited. Within these carefully chosen subjects, I’ve sought to explore some of the ambiguities of the still, thinking of each image as an encapsulation of time: a summary of what seems to be true in the apparent present represented by each image, as well as a hint of what might have been that led up to that moment. In these photographs I also sought to imply something about the still’s immediate aftermath and the more distant future in which the image itself is inevitably relocated, i.e. what may be yet to come.
